A hard day's ride.

It's going to be a hard day.

So i've exhausted myself on the bike so i don't get too overwhelmed by it all when it comes crashing down.

Here are the stats:

avg cadence: 85rpm

max cadence: 122rpm

avg speed: 36.4km/h

max speed: 62km/h

distance: 64.7km

time: 1:46

exhaustion: meh.. i think i'll make it home after a bacon and egg roll.

Anyhow why did this happen? - I got up at 5am because I woke up at 5am. I had some time in the word and prayer, and then thought - might as well crack on.

This is what i read before i left: Hebrews 6:9-12

After giving a rather frightening warning about falling away, the author bolsters the confidence of the hebrews. He reminds them of the things that they continually do which are evidence of their salvation. - not things that are the method of getting salvation, but the results of salvation. Or as it is put in verse 9 - things that accompany salvation.

I've been reading a bit in Jeremiah lately where Judah is getting the smash for running off to Egypt instead of taking the punishment of being carted off to Babylon. They're already completely decimated as a nation, and still have the want to live life their own way and try to escape their peril by going to Egypt. You reckon they'd have remembered what happened the last time they went to Egypt? But we are confident of better things in your case! God is not unjust. We saw His justice "against" Judah for their rebellion, but we will see He is justice "for" you who continue to help his people and show love and work diligently to the very end to make your hope sure.

We - like the Hebrews ought to be confident that He is working in us to will and to do according to His good pleasure, and we ought not become lazy or shrink back from doing good, but to take courage by imitating those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

My suggestion to you today is to hang out with / spend time with those worth imitating, so you can see more of the fruit of this kind of faith and patience. After all you can't really imitate something or someone you don't watch. Find someone wiser in the faith. someone older. someone who's not always running off to Egypt (metaphorically) to fix their problems, but standing in the Grace of God under trial.
