Know the word - sustain the weary.

In reading isaiah 50:4-11 recently i came across a very special blessing.

The person here has gained an instructed tongue, or as NASB translates, the tongue of a disciple.
If we want to be any use to get alongside people in their hard times, to have a word for the weary, we see here how one has gained that grace.

Firstly - He is wakened morning by morning, and his ear is instructed by the Word of the Lord.
His blessing is the constant communion with God by listening to his Word.
Even more so - the LORD has opened his ears. He is sooo blessed to have the Lord do this so that he may understand the good things of God.

Secondly He faces trials, but remains un-ashamed, and set firm and confident in the Lord's ability to vindicate him, and not let him be put to shame. Being deeply and firmly rooted in Gods word he endures scorn and abuse, and has lived through it to bring us this testimony.

It reminds me of what our Lord Jesus endured before facing the Cross, and perhaps the language is close to saying this passage is talking of Christ.

Thirdly He offers that those who Fear and trust the Lord who are in a dark situation should do the same - trusting in the Name of the Lord, and relying on his God.

Fourthly - the consequence of ignoring Gods light, and trying to light your own fire is that you end up in torment, finding no rest.

Should we want to be of some use to Christ - we ought live by the light and sound of His word, submitting to it as a disciple each day and pray for him to wake and open our ears. Then we will have testimony as he carries us through our trials by his Word.

Our testimony and courage comes from the testimony of Christ - who endured the cross, and was not put to shame, but is exalted!

He is the one who has the words of comfort for the weary, and has suffered and become the source of salvation.

Hmmm. I can read the language of Zion, but what does it mean in English?
